Giving Tuesday Cats

Double the Impact
this Giving Tuesday, December 2nd!

We’re excited to share an amazing opportunity to double your impact. Thanks to the generosity of TWO matching donors, every dollar you give will be doubled up to $6,000 — turning $6,000 into $12,000!
 
This year, Giving Tuesday donations will help fund an MRI for Share Bear. Share Bear has shown neurological issues since birth and has already seen a neurologist. Cerebellar hypoplasia (CH) has been ruled out, but the cause of his symptoms is still unknown. An MRI is the only way to get a definitive diagnosis. It can help identify congenital brain abnormalities, hydrocephalus, lesions, or possible FIP.
While there’s a chance the results may show something that can’t be cured, the MRI will give us essential information: a prognosis, a timeline, and a care plan to ensure Share Bear can live as long and as comfortably as possible, without suffering. We’re hopeful it may reveal something treatable or non-life-threatening. Several medications have already been tried without success, so this MRI is the next crucial step.
 
In what has been an incredibly expensive year for us, your support makes an enormous difference for the cats and kittens in our care. Adoption fees never fully cover the medical costs we take on, and donations help us bridge that gap. From now until midnight on Tuesday, December 2, every donation will be matched dollar for dollar. Your $10 becomes $20, your $20 becomes $40, and so on. Every contribution counts, and no donation is too small. Tax receipts are issued for donations of $20 or more.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Payment is due within 48 hours. Payment instructions can be found in your invoice email. When sending payment, PLEASE REMEMBER TO INCLUDE YOUR PREFERRED PICK-UP LOCATION AND A CONTACT PHONE NUMBER.
This is especially important this year, as all auction items are being stored at an off-site facility. Our elves will be picking and packing from that location and can only make limited trips. They will be spending November 28th packing orders, so it is essential that payments–with pick-up details included–are received within 48 hours.
 
On behalf of everyone at Home at Last Rescue, we want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who helped make this auction a tremendous success. Bidders, donors, our volunteer elves, and everyone who shared our posts—we couldn’t have done this without you! Your participation helped us exceed our goal, and every dollar raised will go directly toward veterinary care for the cats and kittens who rely on us.

November 1, 2025, is our 5th Anniversary!

It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since a small group of six or seven of us came together, right in the middle of Covid, to start Home at Last Rescue!

We began with just a few volunteers and a handful of cats, but we had plenty of rescue experience and a big dream: to make a difference for cats in need. Our mission back then is still the same today:

“To rescue cats from substandard living conditions and give them better lives. We will provide medical care, emotional support, and a loving environment while preparing them to find their forever homes.”

Over these five years, our community has grown in amazing ways. Whether you’ve adopted, donated, volunteered, fostered, or simply shared our posts, we couldn’t have done it without you. Your support means everything.

A huge thank you to everyone who ran, walked, donated, and supported our “RUN FOR THE CATS” team this year! Our team was small, but mighty this year and we couldn’t have asked for better weather! Our amazing team members completed the 5K either virtually or in person on Saturday, while others tackled the half marathon on Sunday. One dedicated team member even did both – running the 5K on Saturday and the half marathon the next day!
 
Thanks to everyone’s fundraising efforts, we raised an incredible $4,800 for the cats and kittens in our care. While we didn’t quite reach our $10,000 goal, we’re so grateful for every single dollar and all the support that came our way.

We are almost out of Fancy Feast and ProPlan kitten food! Kitten season is starting and we already have several kittens and pregnant moms in foster. Please help us to put food in all these bellies and the many more to come. Both of these brands are readily available at pet stores, Walmart, etc. We also have two wish lists that carry it as well. Kitten season is here early (actually it never really left….) and we are in desperate need of fosters! We are receiving several requests a day to help with owner surrenders, pregnant cats, kittens and many more, but we can’t help without fosters!

No experience is necessary – we provide guidance and offer a wealth of knowledge to help you in your fostering journey. We cover all vet costs and can also help with donated food. You are ideally located within the GTHA and able to drive to vet appointments.

We have a new buy and sell group on Facebook: Home at Last Rescue Marketplace, in support of Home at Last Rescue!

Our Buy and Sell is a place where members can sell items they’d like to donate and all the funds are donated to HALR.

  • We accept new and gently used, hand made or vintage items.
  • Please post your item under “sell something”, once the item is sold, please put SPPU (sold pending pick up) and once payment has been verified by HALR, arrangements can be made for pick up.
  • Please post the city you are in as well to make it easier.
  • Once the item has been picked up, please delete your post to keep the page clean.
  • If you wish to purchase the item please comment under the photo. If there is multiple interest, then first come first served. Please post “next” if you wish to be considered next.
  • Please read the group rules before posting. 


Payments must be made by e-transfer to fundraise@homeatlastrescue.ca within 24 hours or the item will move to the next person.
